Jerry Davis

Jerry Davis

Troop Committee Chair

My name is Jerry Davis.  As an assistant scoutmaster my adventures in scouting started some 30 odd years ago with my son. Those experiences with my son are memories that we still talk about to this day.  I have had the pleasure of going to Philmont, the National Jamboree, and numerous other camping trips. Please ask about summer camp at Daniel Boone National Forest

So, the question is, why am I still involved in scouting?  I have knowledge and experience to pass on to the young man, even though my ideas may be outdated, they are still applicable, to the young men that are in our care. I have a good feeling knowing that we’ve made a difference in someone’s life. Troop 199 is our village

Mr. Wilks has his Bachelor’s of Programming from the University of Scouting. I am proud to serve as Scoutmaster for one the oldest and well recognized scouting units in the State. Since 1949, the mission of Troop 199 has been the development and preparation of young boys to adulthood, via Scouting.  While utilizing tools such as, outdoor programing, leadership development and positive role models, we instill in our Scouts an understanding of the Scout Oath and the 12 points of the Scout Law.

James Perdue

James Perdue
Asst Scoutmaster

In 1990, when I was in the 6th grade, I joined Troop 199. I have been on campouts at Camp Belzer in Indianapolis, Camp K in Elwood, Camp Bear Creek in Connersville, and Camp Ransburg in Bloomington. I also attended summer campouts in Brown County and the former Deer Creek Music Center while I was in Boy Scouts. I went hiking at Eagle Creek Park and other outings like bowling. When I became Asst. Scout Master, I continued to go on campouts and hiking with the Boy Scouts. I went on out of town outings with the Boy Scouts and parents like Estes Park in Colorado, National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, The Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky, and The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. I tell the Boy Scouts what to do to keep them out of trouble and so they will be prepared with no excuses. I like being in Scouts so I can help the Boy Scouts.
